Working sheet — not official Civil Service guidance
Success Profiles — what to collect before you write
Official behaviours and definitions live on GOV.UK. This sheet only tells you which evidence to gather. Do not treat it as a substitute for the advert.
| Element | What the form is testing | Evidence to collect |
|---|---|---|
| Behaviours | How you work, mapped to the named behaviour at the grade. | One STAR story per named behaviour. Names, dates, numbers. |
| Strengths | What you do naturally and enjoy. | Short examples. Do not invent a passion you cannot talk about. |
| Experience | What you have done that matches the duties. | Role, employer, dates, scale (£, people, systems). |
| Technical | Professional knowledge. | Qualifications, standards, systems, frameworks actually used. |
| Ability | Tests or online assessments. | Practice under timed conditions. We do not sit tests for you. |
Print the advert. Highlight every “essential” line. Put one piece of evidence against each line before drafting the statement.
